Making History with the Raleigh Fire Department
Local author and historian Mike Legeros speaks about and
signs copies of his newest book, Raleigh and Wake County
Firefighting Volume II.
His appearance is part of Fire Prevention Day at the
Triangle Town Center, with the Raleigh Fire Department
promoting fire safety from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Activities
include puppet shows, an apparatus display, the fire safety
house, and an appearance by Sparky the Fire Dog.
Also at the Triangle Town Center through mid-October is the
photo exhibit The Courage of Heroes. Located at the mall
entrances at Dillard’s and Hecht’s, the gallery spotlights
the men and women of the Raleigh Fire Department.

history of firefighting in Wake County, the early history of
the Garner Fire Department, and the process of authoring photo

Raleigh and Wake County Firefighting Volume II.
