How to Two-Step*
*As practiced at the
Longbranch

Guy:
- Stand with feet together, facing partner.
- Put right hand on partner's waist.
- Put left hand up and to side, arm slightly bent.
- Grasp partner's hand.
- Wait for music to start.
- On first beat, step forward quickly with left foot.
- On second beat, step forward quickly with right foot.
- On third beat, step forward slowly with left foot.
- On fourth beat, continue stepping forward slowly.
- On fifth beat, step forward slowly with right foot.
- On sixth beat, continue stepping forward slowly, pulling left
foot even with right foot.
- Rinse and repeat. If necessary, count as "quick, quick,
slow, slow."
- Resist urge to "window wash" with left hand.
- Resist urge to lift feet. Slide more than step.
- Refrain from wearing rubber soles.
- Watch where you are going.
- Practice, practice, practice.

Gal:
- Place left hand on partner's right shoulder.
- Bend right elbow and place palm of right hand on outstretched
palm.
- Do opposite of what partner does, e.g.:
- On first beat, step backward quickly with right foot.
- On second beat, step backward quickly with left foot.
- On third beat, step backward slowly with right foot.
- On fourth beat, continue stepping backward slowly.
- On fifth beat, step backward slowly with left foot.
- On sixth beat, continue stepping backward slowly, pulling
right foot even with left .
- Continue following partner's lead.
- Resist temptation to lead.
- Smile often.
- Practice, practice, practice.
