Village of the Damned (1995)

Director John Carpenter continues to set his sights low, now remaking
the classic creeper VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED to his best B-movie effect.
Though it's a definite improvement over his recent IN THE MOUTH OF
MADNESS, this still a far cry from the director's better days of ESCAPE
FROM NEW YORK and THE THING.

The strength is the story, which chugs along merrily as the novelty cast
pretends to act. The hams include Christopher Reeve, Linda Koslowski,
Kirstie Alley, and Mark Hamill. The latter plays preacher, which is no
doubt a warning sign against taking this film too seriously. Based on
the 1957 novel "The Midwitch Cuckoos," by Jack Wyndham.
