Out of Sight (1998)

The best film I've seen in some time is OUT OF SIGHT, yet another
Elmore Leonard adaptation, this time by our old SEX, LIES, AND
VIDEOTAPE friend Stephen Soderbergh. Funny. Sexy. Maybe sublime.
Surprise cameos. Self-referential asides. Dennis Farina. Ving
Rhames. Albert Brooks in old-age make-up. Funnier, I think, than
GET SHORTY; certainly steamier than JACKIE BROWN. If nothing else,
see it for George Clooney, who finally delivers that long-promised
star-making turn. He may never need to answer the Batsignal again.
With Jennifer Lopez, Don Cheadle, Catherine Keener, and a scene-
stealing Steve Zahn, man. Screenplay by Scott Frank. (Rated "R"/
123 min.)
