RALEIGH - Working fire at 1319 Kent Road. Engine 8 arriving at a one-story, wood-frame,
apartment building with 3,584 square-feet. Built 1976. Smoke and flames showing from the roof on arrival.
Interior attack by Engine 8. Reverse-laid supply line by Engine 20. Lines both inside and outside the
structure. Ladder 7 deployed to assist with overhaul. Command and medical monitoring and rehab
located across the street. Dispatched 5:00 a.m. Controlled 5:26 p.m. Extended investigation of cause,
by agencies including Raleigh FD and Raleigh-Wake CCBI. Engine 8 remained on scene
into the day. Cause determined as arson. One civilian injured
after jumping from window. One firefighter injured after a fall, with wrist injuries. Three apartments uninhabitable, and five
others with damage, and 16 people displaced. Units on scene included: E8, E5, E20, E14, E13 (special called),
L7, R3, B3, A1, C10, C20, C40, C4, EMS __, EMS 11, EMS 1, D1, T1.
