RALEIGH - Engine 6 personnel checking hydrants on Mills Street, part of a pilot project to inspect all fire hydrants
in the city. The project, a joint effort between the fire department and public utilities, is expected to take six weeks. Engine,
ladder, and rescue company personnel perform several steps with each hydrant checked, including documenting the street address
and hydrant information, lubricate the threads, and flowing the hydrant until the water is clear. "C" platoon.
