RALEIGH - Working fire at 122 Lakestone Drive. Engine 9 arriving with smoke showing from the roof of the two-story semi-detached garage, connected on one story with a two-story single-family dwelling. Built 1972 with 3,871 square-feet. Second story of garage fully furnished. Challenges included long lay from hydrant (about 590 feet) and distance from street to garage (about 130 feet). Crews took a line into the garage, while ventilation was also started. Crews withdrawn from inside and atop garage, due to deteriorating roof conditions. Trench cut made on structure connecting house and garage. Defensive operations started, including with Ladder 2 flowing from street. Dispatched 12:53 p.m. Controlled 1:40 p.m. No injuries, occupants escaped unharmed. Cause determined as accidental.
