RALEIGH - Structure fire at the Holiday Inn at 4100 Glenwood Avenue. Battalion 5 and Engine 16 arriving
at a twelve-story hotel high-rise building with 100,110 square-feet. Built 1973. Smoke reported on the tenth floor.
Fire alarm system found activated. Engine 16 proceeded to tenth floor, and found sprinkler system had activated
in one room, and extinguished a fire in an HVAC unit in the room. The room was unoccupied. The floor and others
were evacuated. Crews performed extensive overhaul, due to water damage from sprinkler system. Cause
determined to unspecified mechanical failure of HVAC unit. Dispatched 8:58 p.m. Units on scene
included E16, E6, E17, E9, L3, L2, R1, Sq14, B5, B3, A1, C20, C420, C401, WC1. EMS 1, EMS 3, EMS 4, D4, D3, M92, T1.
