RALEIGH - Deployment of new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) at the
Support Services Center on New Bern Avenue. On July 1, all
frontline apparatus and units swapped out their SCBA for new equipment. On July 2, reserve apparatus
and any remaining units received theirs. Deployed were sets of Scott Air-Pak X3 harnesses, AV 3000 faceplates,
Epic 3 voice amplifiers, 5.5 liter/45-minute bottles, new bail out bags, and new company/unit strap
placards. Also placed in service were 75-minute bottles for haz-mat and RIT, new RIT-PAK portable
air supply and tool containers, and handheld Pak-Tracker receivers for ladder companies and
battalion chiefs. By the numbers: 386 harnesses, 600 masks and voice amps, 726 45-minute
bottles, 89 75-minute bottles, 14 RIT-PAKs, and 20 Pak-Trackers.
