RALEIGH - Working fire at 4809 Gun Powder Lane. Engine 19 arriving at a two-story, wood-frame, single-family dwelling with 1,560 square-feet. Built 1993. Heavy fire showing from the rear of the house. Engine 19 caught its own hydrant at the corner, and “laid in wet.” Detached two-story garage behind the building found with heavy fire venting from the first floor. Two lines pulled, for transitional attack and then interior extinguishing. Dispatched 1:48 p.m. Controlled 2:15 p.m. Cause determined as accidental. Building contained two classic cars. Occupant was performing maintenance on a vehicle, when gasoline fumes ignited. Occupant suffered minor burns to arm, was not transported. One firefighter suffered a lower back injury and was transported for further examination. Units on scene included E19, Squad 15, E28, E22, L5, L2, R1, B1, B5, A1, C20, C401, EMS 36, EMS 5, D9, T1. “B” platoon.
