RALEIGH - Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) exercise at an abandoned house on
Charles Drive, ending a day of rescue, ventilation, and forcible entry training at three
houses that are scheduled for demolition. The RIT scenario was a firefighter trapped in
a basement, under an 800-pound collapsed wall with additional weights added. Companies
had to work together as the scenario included crews running out of air, as well as
a mechanical advantage required to free the victim. Note that the basement had no
light other than occasional bursts from photographer's flash. "C" platoon.
