Two-alarm commercial structure fire at 5020 Atlantic Avenue. Brotherís Cleaners. Two-story brick and metal building with 18,253 square-feet. Built 1998. Rescue 1 arriving with heavy fire and smoke from Division B/C (left/rear of building). Crews withdrawn from interior attack about ten minutes later. Defensive operations started, with two portable monitors in rear, one in front. Ladder 2 also flowed in front. Four hydrants utilized. Dispatched 1:42 p.m. Working fire ~1:45 p.m. Second alarm ~1:56 p.m. Three additional engines ~2:50 p.m. Controlled 4:10 p.m. First alarm: E15, E11, E9, E22, L2, L5, R1, B1, B5. Working fire: A2, C20, C401, C420. Second alarm: L7 (was moved up to 15), E19, E16, E27, L5, L1, B2. Additional: C1, C2, C4, C12 (Safety), C21 (Ops Chief Aide). Medical: EMS 10, EMS 13, EMS 2, EMS 31, EMS 15, D3, T1, Logistics 1. Mike Legeros photos. First picture at 4:37 p.m., nearly two hours into incident.
