Lest we forget the glorious ungainliness of what came before the Raleigh Convention Center, here's a Terraserver aerial view of the Raleigh Civic Center and surrounding blocks, dated March 2002. It also shows Fayetteville Street still as a pedestrian mall. Downtown Raleigh's come a long way, baby! Wonder what Andy and Barney would say, if they could see it today?
 





Alive After Five was always a good time down there. Oh how things have changed….

Thinking the same thing H2O…..I’ve got a few stories from those days. Ohhhhh the hot summer evenings and the ice cold beers…

I moved away from Raleigh two years ago, and was just back downtown the other week for the Sheriff’s conference. I was amazed at the transformation that downtown has had just in the past two years. There were actually people out and about in downtown (not just Glenwood South) after 9pm. It was great!
