12/14/09 104 W, 1 I - + 9 - 8 Hamlet Aerial Ladder, 1956


Here's an interesting piece of apparatus, a Dodge/Maxim 65-foot aerial ladder at the Hamlet Fire Department and as pictured in the June 1956 issue of Hose & Nozzle Magazine. Mounted on a Dodge chassis, the apparatus was owned by Gibbons Fire Apparatus Company. The town was storing same, and could use the apparatus as needed. Company owner Phil Gibbons was an active member of the department. HFD had two stations that year, with three engines, a pumper-tanker, a rescue truck, and a chief's car.
