02/24/10 48 W, 1 I - + 11 - 7 Wake County Apparatus Rosters, 1994

Random artifact, Wake County fire department rosters from 1994. Don't know the purpose of the document. Would have been neat had Cary, Raleigh, and Raleigh-Durham Airport  been included. Notice the municipal Zebulon Fire Department is also omitted. Click to read the PDF scan:

This was a county-maintained inventory of contracted-department apparatus. The non-contracted departments were shown in parenthesis. It was used for a variety of reasons, including resource list for large events. In later years, these were used to begin determining how many 800 MHz radios would have to be purchased.

Bit o’ trivia. Raleigh provided contract fire protection back in the day. In the 1970s, they covered some property south on 401. That was also the time that the city foresaw expansion south, and even anticipated a fire station out that way.
