04/24/10 95 W - + 7 - 1 This Morning's Police Car and Ambulance Accident


WRAL reports this morning that a Raleigh police car and Wake County EMS ambulance collided this morning at Creech Road and Slippery Elm Drive, while en route to a shooting. The original incident on Brasswood Avenue was reported just before 1 a.m. The accident occurred a couple blocks from the scene. There were no major injuries, with the responders reportedly complaining of soreness after the collision. No particulars are cited, such as additional units dispatched, if anyone was transported, or the cause of the accident. Read the story.



Without the facts, there is no way to tell what happened, how, or why. This is just a reminder and a hope to all drivers, volunteer, paid, Fire Police EMS... if you are heading on a call in emergency mode, use ALL lights and sirens. I have see where officers don’t want the driver to use the sirens at night or the horn, because they don’t want to wake the neighbors or make a lot of noise. Remember though, YOU as the driver are accountable… if you don’t use the proper warning devices, YOU can be held liable if something happens.
