Digging through some photo prints this morning. These aren't much of a mystery, really. Heaven help those who travel with fire buffs. Click to enlarge:

Truck 5 was delivered yellow, one of the first after GFD went to yellow in 1974. It was the first piece of apparatus re-painted red over white when yellow was abandoned in 1987. Engines 4 and 5 were the first ordered from the factory red over white after the change. The three 1987 squads were eventually re-painted red over white before they were disposed of. The battalion chief cars were a hideous beige color. Subsequent cars were solid red and are now white. Engine 5 was involved in a 10-50PI on 4 July 2002 at Holden Rd at Hobbs Rd. Iím not sure if it ever returned to service.

A little fact, just in case anyone cares; the Grumman tower from the Bull City saw service at Ladder 1. It had two airpack seats in the front, one for the officer and the other for a crew member. The rear passenger portion was unbearable due to the heat coming from the “dog box”/motor, so one member got to ride up front. Sucks to be the rookie….
