08/11/10 27 W, 1 I - + 8 - 2 Side Horns?

What's the story on these, as seen on a commercial vehicle on Edwards Mill Road the other day:

They’re becoming more commonplace. My thought are, they’re more likely to alert drivers beside the truck that the driver is p*ssed because they can’t get over because you’re in the lane beside them and should give way. Otherwise, there’s really no good reason. Seems like just another thing for truckers to put on their rigs with the huge array of lights and the wolverine grille covers.

They are just train horn copies. The shear size of them limits where they can be mounted although I would guess on a big rig the room would be plentiful. My guess is that spot just makes for an easy install and since they are so loud they really don’t have to face forward. I heard about a couple of Raleigh firefighters mounted a set on their pov’s.

Makes it easier to rip them off the rig when a truck driver misuses them on a driver.

They are the GET THE HELL OF THE CELL PHONE AND TEXTING TOY horns.
Wonder how many underwear skid marks they have caused as clueless drivers are wondering through their day?
