11/05/10 83 W, 1 I - + 2 - 3 Challenge Coins

For weekend discussion as suggested by a reader overseas (thanks Scottie!), who has challenge coins in their department? This Wikipedia article tells all about them, from their origins (military) to their uses (challenges, awards, etc.). Raise your hand if your fire or EMS department has had them made for members. Or perhaps are planning to have them made. And based on Google searches, there appears quite a market for them these days!

Falls had their Christmas Dinner this evening. All the memebers got one. They are really nice.

I have had the privilege of being presented coins from several High ranking military officials. Having been in the Military and having worked overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan in the contract fire service on military bases the FD coins go along ways with the troops. I have had several designed for the departments as well as personal use to be presented. I find it comes with a lot of pride and tradition when issuing and receiving a coin.

If any of you guys have coins for sale or trade, I collect them and have a couple doubles for which I can trade you, and of course, I will purchase them if they’re for sale.
