11/26/10 55 W, 1 I - + 7 - 5 Wildwood Unit 4

Leaving town this afternoon, we spotted this truck sitting behind the Wildwood fire station on Highway 70 west, just outside of Morehead. There's a neat mural on the thing. The town's third fire station is also located here, and occupies a building behind Wildwood Fire & EMS. Click once or twice to enlarge:

Unit 4 operates as an all-call air truck, rehab station, and catch-all. I remember driving it… it was always fun to try and get the electrical gremlins to stop messing around.

There was a set of extrication tools on it, but they were moved to Engine 2, which is the first out apparatus on all fire-related calls.

Here’s a closer view of the mural, from Lee Wilson: http://www.flickr.com/photos/leewilson/5..

And his picture of the truck, http://www.flickr.com/photos/leewilson/5..

It’s a 1997 International/ROM, purchased from a fire department in Virginia. Air, light, rehab, and former rescue unit.

This use to belong to the Winfield and Community volunteer fire company in carroll county Maryland. The mural is of engine 143 fighting a fire with air 14 lighting it up.
