01/04/11 89 W, 2 I - + 2 - 2 Garner Men Honored as Firefighters of the Year


This Garner Citizen story reports that Garner Fire Department members Jimmy Franks and Allen Dudley were awarded Firefighter of the Year at the department's annual ladies banquet in early December. Franks has a been a volunteer firefighter for over 30 years. Dudley is a District Chief who has been a member of the department for 25 years. These are the first awards in 15 years. The awards were restarted this fall by Fire Chief Matt Poole. Read the story

These are two of the finest individuals that I know and are most deserving of their awards. Both of these fellas are in this line of work for the right reasons as can be seen by their length of service. I am proud to have worked along side both of them when I worked with EMS in Garner and learned a lot from them. Guys like them put the citizens first and politics last. Keep up the good work!
