09/04/11 125 W, 1 I - + 5 - 5 1957 International Harvester Tailgating Truck


Saw this today on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, one of a few vehicles still clearing the scene of last night's tailgating activities at Jack Trice Stadium. (Interesting factoid about the Ames Fire Department. Their original Station 2 was located in the basement of the college's former football arena. Then, a couple years later, a section of the stadium collapsed on the fire station! Read about that.) As for the pictured apparatus, the 1957 International R185 pumper, 1000 GPM, was purchased in open-cab condition from its last-serving fire department.
