As a Wake County resident and taxpayer, why should I support continuing to fund a fire department that only runs 756 calls a year? Wouldn’t it make more logical (and fiscal) sense to let Raleigh or some other neighboring department handle there area? Just seems like a waste of resources from a laymen’s perspective.

[ Great question Jeanne! I have started a dedicated thread for responses to this question. ]

The Incident Totals by station represent Incidents where the unit at that station is primary, therefore is responsible for the NFIRS incident report
*Station 3 is multi-company (E33/T73). This number represents responses where only one unit is primary.
**Station listed as “SP” is Special Events. This is Used for Halloween, Football Games, etc.
***R-81 and R-82 are First Responder units placed into service during inclement weather or Special Events like Halloween, etc. They respond out of any station, depending on need.

If anyone has questions about the numbering scheme or units purpose, please just ask. I’d love to get that thread started again.
Sasser (Email) (Web Site) - 02/19/15 - 02:18

The Wake County EMS system generated 89755 reports for 2014. This is the number of calls, and not the number of dispatches so situations like ESTAT, etc. are not included within this calculation. For 2013, there were 85,688 reports, representing an increase of nearly 5% for 2014.
