January 1 - March 31, 1915
January 1 - March 31, 1916
April 1 - June 30, 1916
July 1 - September 30, 1917
April 1 - June 30, 1918

Historians speculate that the newspaper's unfavorable comments at the time about Secretary of the Navy and former News & Observer publisher Josephus Daniels led to the unavailability of the issues for microfilm scanning at the Library of Congress.
