Houseguest (1995)

Comedian and TV star Sinbad stars as a cut-rate con man who charms his
way into a family by pretending to be an old school chum. Phil Hartman
plays the dad who gives his "friend" a place to stay, and, predictably,
gets a chance to get *down*.

The joke has something to do with race and class, and neither is as
funny as the sight of Sinbad in a small car. That's the opening gag,
and it's a howler. The rest of the film should be so funny. Sinbad is
a treat, though. His infectious, buoyant charm can even turn the film's
most shameless product placement into something special.

Grade: C+
