Wilde (1998)

There's skin to spare in WILDE, director Brian Gilbert's appropriate-
ly "R"-rated British bio pic of playwright Oscar Wilde.  (For "strong
sexuality and language," meaning no Full Monty.)  Too bad the title
character's *wit* isn't as amply-displayed.  Frankly, it might've made
for a more exciting movie...  With Jude Law, Vanessa Redgrave, Gemma
Jones, Tom Wilkinson, and splendid in the title role, Stephen Fry.  
Screenplay by Julian Mitchell, based on Richard Ellmann's book.  (Rated
"R"/117 min.)
