Southern Gothic small-town suicide-as-murder mystery/eccentric ensemble comedy starring Glenn Close, Julianne Moore, Liv Tyler, Chris O'Donnell, Charles S. Dutton, Patricia Neal, Ned Beatty, and Courtney B. Vance. Drags in spots and the large cast also overflows, but it's a very funny, very Southern film. Also exceptionally (if expectedly) well-acted.
