09/07/09 107 W, 1 I - + 13 - 8 This Morning's Fire in Apex

House fire in the L'Hermitage at Beaver Creek subdivision off the 1000 block of Olive Chapel Road. Two-story, wood-frame, vacant structure with 3,500 square-feet. Fully-involving upon arrival of Apex fire units. Mutual Aid from Cary and Fairview. Aerial operations with what looks like Ladder 1 and Ladder 3. Roof and second floor collapsed. Apex, Cary, and Wake EMS on scene. Dispatched at 3:00 a.m. Fire appeared suspicious, with investigators waiting until daylight to look for evidence. If you’re ever in Apex, you need to drive through this neighborhood. It’s just off Highway 55, on Olive Chapel Rd. Looks like a ghost town, because when this hood was being built, the builders just picked up and left. There are houses that are huge, just sitting. Brand new townhomes, upscale that is, vacant. The community pool has weeds growing up all around it. And then you have the two poor souls that actually bought houses in this community…

If I were a homeless man, this place would be a best kept secret. Maybe a good field trip for Mikey L to take?

Silver is correct. It is a shame that you have 500,000 homes sitting vacant. This development was supposed to be very upscale now most of them have damages due to being vacant and will have to be torn down. It is amazing how teenagers can carve Apex Rules into nice cherry cabinets. Luckily this neighborhood was just purchased out of foreclosure and should start up again.
