Reader Russell Rigouard photographed this classic piece of fire apparatus at the Institute of Texas Cultures while visiting San Antonio. It saw service with the Comfort Fire Department in Comfort, TX. Observe the hand pump that's mounted at the front of the rig, which is something this historian's never seen before. Said the information posted with the exhibit, the ladder truck was hand-pulled to the scene. The department also had a horse-drawn tanker that supplied the buckets and hand pumps. Very cool.
