07/23/10 25 W, 1 I - + 8 - 5 Mystery Nozzle #1

What is it, who made it, when did they make it, when was it used?

Pretty sure it was a broken stream combination nozzle developed by the Navy…I think that is what I have heard. I have one at the house.

That is correct it is called a Navy All Purpose nozzle or APN. The fog stream portion can be removed and a four foot applicator inserted. The nozzle has a three position bail Off, Fog and Straight Stream. The straight stream is orifice is below the fog insert.

I love a Navy nozzle, also still manufactured by Akron. The four foot applicator worked very well on chimney fires.

Very early version of the Navy all purpose fog nozzle, rated at 60 gpm!

It is probably made by Rockwood.
