02/16/12 75 W, 2 I - + 6 - 4 Chocowinity's Snorkel

As referenced in the comments of this recent posting, here's a 1981? American LaFrance snorkel in service at Chocowinity Fire Department in Beaufort County. Delivered in 1981 and equipped with a 1250 GPM pump, it first served on the other side of the river in Washington. After delivery of a 2006 Pierce platform, the snorkel moved to Chocowinity. Meaning no disrespect to my brothers at WFD, as I served as a volunteer there for a couple years, but the quote used to be “When the Snorkel goes up, the building comes down”. It was impressive to walk into the truck room and see that baby sitting there.
