That's right, a total of 5.12 inches of rain on Sunday, breaking the record of 4.8 inches set in 2008. County-wide, some 150 people were impacted by the heavy rain and resulting flooding. Forty people were rescued, including twenty-five residents from a mobile home park on South Greensboro Street in Carrboro. Residents were also evacuated from an apartment complex on Estes Drive near University Mall in Chapel Hill. That latter made for good listening via this live audio feed. That is, the Orange County Fire and EMS channel. Chatham County was also hit hard, with flooding and people rescued around Pittsboro.
