07/04/09 86 W, 1 I - + 12 - 7 Ladder 22 / Ladder 5

One of the city's two new Pierce platforms was placed in service as Ladder 22 on Thursday, July 2, at 5:30 p.m. The 2009 Pierce Arrow XT 100-foot aerial platform, 1500/400, will be designated Ladder 5 effective July 7. Old Ladder 22, a 2005 Pierce Arrow XT 100-foot aerial ladder, 1500/300, will be assigned to Ladder 6 (Ladder 24) in the near future, replacing a 1988 Pierce Arrow 85-foot articulating platform. Engine 22 recently received a new pumper, a 2004 American LaFrance Eagle, 1500/400500, that previously served as Engine 1. See more photos from Lee Wilson.

Does the new Engine 22 have a 400gwt or 500gwt?

All Raleigh FD engines have 500 gal tanks (standardized).

The second platform was placed in service as Ladder 5 at Station 20 yesterday, July 8. Old Ladder 5, a 1999 American LaFrance platform, was moved to Station 11 and is serving as Ladder 2, while the station’s 2005 Pierce ladder is repaired. Over at Station 24, Ladder 6 continues to operate a 1988 Pierce platform, while its replacement, a 2005 Pierce ladder, spends a few weeks at the body shop. Repairs to the rear, plus chevrons added.

I thought L7 was at station 20?

L7 is at Engine 20’s quarters….just a little confusion. L5 is at Engine 22’s quarters…

Thanks for catching and correcting.
