10/07/09 68 W - + 10 - 12 Bodies on Television?

Question of the day. Do our television stations typically show dead bodies in footage from local stories? Despite his seemingly 24/7 media awareness, Mr. Blogger rarely watches newscasts or video clips. Thus the surprise this morning, seeing a[n apparent] body in the street, shown in the WRAL coverage of a fatal shooting in Fuquay-Varina. Is that common these days? Showing a deceased person on screen?

Whats the saying in the news media??? If it bleeds, it leads.

Welcome to the over hyped sensational world of todays news, and yes even little WRAL is playing the game.

Pretty sure that was the victims coat.

But of course. Victim’s coat.

Disregard entire posting.

Yes, it was the victim’s coat. In some video a body under a sheet was visible. It’s nothing new. The 1979 shootings in Greensboro were examples, showing multiple bodies on the street. On a side note, I have my own take on these guys to take out their girlfriends/spouse/ex-spouse like this. It’s up on my blog.
