09/05/10 238 W, 7 I - + 5 - 3 Raleigh Ladders, Where Are They Now?

Question from a reader, does anyone maintain a list of where Raleigh apparatus has ended up, after removed from service from the city? In particular, the aerials? Yours Truly has kept an occasional eye on such information, but needs to compile things in a ready format. We'll work on that. Such as additing to our apparatus register. For now, let's see if we can track the former ladders and towers:

Man, the Baker and the Seagrave are two rigs I wish we refurbed and kept.

I looked at the Barnwell SC Fire Department website and there is no Mack/Baker list as in service. The only truck company they have is a service truck. Only one other FD website in the county.

I thank the 77 Mack is still at Civietown FD, was back in December when I was at their station. It was out of service and for sale at that time.

The Mack CF Aerialscope at Civietown is not a former Raleigh truck. It came from Washington State, King County District 26 to be exact. The Mack MC tiller was long gone when I visited their station in the summer of 2009.

I believe the 1986 Seagrave ladder is the one I shot sitting on the side of Interstate 26 in Calhoun County, SC. See it here: http://picasaweb.google.com/bcfd424 look under Relics Demos and its the first truck.
