The Metropolitan - March 16, 2017

Five alarms were struck in downtown Raleigh on Thursday night, March 16, 2017, when the 270,000 square-foot Metropolitan apartment building under construction caught fire. Hundreds of nearby residents were evacuated, ten buildings were damaged, and fire crews remained on scene for days. The fire caused $62.5 million of damage and was the sixth largest fire loss that year in the United States. This site collections information and research from historian Mike Legeros and the Raleigh Fire Museum.
