02/07/08 96 W, 1 I - + 8 - 13 Morrisville's New Ladder

The Morrisville Fire Department recently took a trip to inspect their coming KME platform ladder. It's due in a few more weeks. Their old ladder's been sold, thus the reason Parkwood's ladder's at their station at present. How many ladders does that make in Wake these days? Let's see. Raleigh has 7, plus three reserves. Cary has 3, with a fourth almost here. Apex has 2. Bay Leaf has 1. Fuquay-Varina has 1. Garner has 1. Holly Springs has 1. Knightdale has 1, albeit a Squrt. Morrisville has 1. Wake Forest has 1. Wendell has 1. Zebulon has 1.

I heard through a rumor that Knightdale Public Safety was getting a new ladder truck… can someone tell me if it is true or not?

No, there not. Believe they are working on a station two (town website), so an additional pumper/engine should be in the plans.

There will be a new engine, expected delivery late spring/early summer

Somewhat relevant to the discussion, Bethesda FD is expecting delivery of a new 75’ Quint in July to run the Brier Creek contract area with E24 and E23, also to run mutal aid with Durham Highway.

That seems like a big expense for a quint when most likely Raleigh will cancel the contract when Station 29 is built off of Leesville Rd area.

But, Bethesda also has a first-due area that could benefit from the quint, “In The Know.” Just because a new station is built, also, doesn’t mean the contract will be automatically cancelled. Maybe we should let the powers that be sort it out later, and reap the benefits from the added equipment when it is delivered.

Have any contracts ever been cancelled in the past?

Published among the town’s Board of Commissioner documents in 2006, here are the truck’s specs: http://www.ci.morrisville.nc.us/webAgend..
