Yes indeed, We are impressed with it, not like the old “pretenders” from previous county specs, Pierce really stepped up their game with these!!!!

What is the difference with the old Prentenders as mentioned from previous specs and the new contender from Pierce? Oh by the way…this is a good looking truck! But I do love that MACK still!

Fit and Finish better. It’s still the Saber Chassis, but TONS more customization possible. We’ll see how it holds up. The Mack is sold, it’ll be missed.

That’s cool…Good to know

How different is this new truck compared to Contender from a couple years ago?

And how did it come about that you could customize the truck a little more than in years past?

Was that a new county change or did they allow each department to design something that better meet their needs?

Made many options standard, meets current nfpa 1901, Pierce has expanded their capabilities and increased options. This is pretty much a full custom now, just not built as heavy as some of the high dollar trucks. Smaller frame rails, TAK-4 not available, no air bags/rollover, etc… Max price is $320,000, any more than that and the department has to pay for it out of pocket. It’s not perfect, but when you’re coming off an old Mack, Ford, etc it’s a huge upgrade.
