...well, green, actually. This WRAL story reports that today a trio of Chinook choppers landed in a field in Rolesville. No details yet, but this viewer photo has a neat, grainy, conspiratorial feel. If we were located a bit closer to military facilities, who knows what stories might be supposed. Bet those things were loud as they landed.

They’re not gonna catch us. We’re on a mission from God.

Was anyone near there when this was going on? It sounds like (according to WRAL’s story) that the local law enforcement agents were in on this but no military is owning up to it? Just curious if anyone was actually out there and saw what was going on.

Mike, they are loud and have a distinct sound, we always know when the mail would get to our base. The Chinook is my favorite bird to fly in.

Looks like the spec ops version of the standard CH-47, refueling probe, and winch from what I can see. Back in the mid to late 90’s Delta Force or some other Spec Ops group decided to conduct training exercises in downtown Charlotte using Little Birds and other helicopters… Scared a lot of people, then again not every day you have armed helicopters buzzing around with men firing automatic weapons…

I wonder if this is the same trio that was seen flying over Waxhaw, NC (Union County, S. of Charlotte) yesterday. They were quite low to the ground here as well; Everything in the firehouse rattled and shook.

They are very loud, especially when our fire station is next to the flight line. They make our rooms shake, very irritating at 3 in the morning.

There was a pair of them flying down off of Tryon Rd yesterday around 4pm. Very low to the ground
