09/24/09 39 W, 3 I - + 12 - 14 New Jersey Tiller

Reader Jeff Silver found this beauty after a parade up in Jersey, a Seagrave tiller retired from Alexandria, VA. Either Ladder 203 or Ladder 205. Buy it and surprise your wife. Click to enlarge:

THos would make a great addition to Raleigh’s fleet, possibly as Ladder 9 or as the replacement for ladder 4.

I did that once, bought a truck and surprised my wife. My son wanted a fire truck birthday for his forth birthday, and I got it on e-bay for next to nothing. It was former Kinston Engine 5, Hugo FD, and Harrell’s FD Engine 211. Was a 1954 Seagrave. I miss that truck, was allot of fun, especially as a tailgate vehicle for Hurricanes playoff games! Worked out good, sold it to a collector in Florida who was going to restore it to Kinston Engine 5. Last I heard, he had it down to the frame and was getting ready to reassemble it. But a Tiller! Now that would be one awesome tailgating vehicle. Set up the ladder and let your team flag fly! Lots of storage for drinks, food, grills, generator for a big screen, and satellite receiver. Oh the possibilities, my wife may get surprised again!
