For your Friday amusement, here's a historical photograph found on eBay, and printed by the Siddell Studio in Raleigh. The picture is signed in period ink, says the seller, and probably depicts a North Carolina fire station. Any guesses? Click to slightly enlarge:

Tuesday update. Thanks to Steven's comment, we may have identified this building. Is it Farmville's municipal building, built 1928? The fire department was housed there until 1958.

I think that is the old town hall/police/fire station in Farmville NC. Possibly that might be the truck that was sold to Raleigh FD in 1942.

Here’s the ebay item, with seven hours left, http://cgi.ebay.com/Police-and-Fire-Stat..

Farmville it is, or so confirms the ebay seller, who sees an “F” on the firefighter’s helmets, when the picture is magnified. Good detective work!

The fire department is now house there again. The fire station was orginally built with 2 double bays in 1958 with an alley in between. In 1992 the alley was converted to a third double bay and the old municipal building became offices, etc. for the building. The doors on the right are a small museum for the department including the 1942 American La France.
