For your Friday enjoyment and found on a die-cast discussion board, head over to massfiretrucks.com for pictures of Boston's new KME engines. They've put three in service as Engines 7, 33, and 37. Shown below on the main page is Engine 7, a 2010 KME Predator 1250/500. Looks like they're moving away from Pierce and E-One.

Boston seems to have always liked KME. Their new Rescue is a KME as well

I believe that MEB took that photo….owner of the site.

Thanks, removed incorrect credit. Also re-purposed posting, to be a better ‘net citizen and focus on the site itself versus simple hot-linking to an image.

I am a personal fan of the red rims rather then the chrome. Believe all trucks should have em

Personal opinion, but I like them too. Sure, the chrome rims make it look sweet. However, it’s a work truck. Put a properly trained crew that gives a damn, the right tools and a truck that mechanically functions and you’re good to go.

How many thousands of dollars do they save per truck or a year on going with the plain rims instead of the chrome? Probably quite a few. Maybe enough to assist in station renovations, or the purchase of a new TIC or some other piece of equipment that will actually help “the men” out.
