07/30/10 61 W - + 4 - 7 Yesterday's Apparatus Accident in Duplin County

Wallace Warsaw Fire Department Engine 4 was reportedly involved in a motor-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon, when a passenger vehicle collided with the apparatus on scene at another vehicle accident in Interstate 40 at Mile Marker 354364. One firefighter reportedly received minor injuries, and the apparatus sustained heavy damage. No news outlet coverage yet found. We await more details.

It was Warsaw FD Engine 4 and the wreck occurred at the 364 MM, Warsaw and Faison FD’s were dispatched to a MVA at approx. 16-21 yesterday, Warsaw E4 arrived and before they could even pull the parking brake a Dodge Durango had struck the rear passenger side of the vehicle causing major damage to the rear and passenger side of the fire truck. 1 patient was pinned in the vehicle that struck the truck and 1 FF possibly broke his arm. The incident occurred during a heavy rainstorm that had also produced a tornado in the area. This is the same mile marker where a DOT worker was killed 2 months ago where a tractor trailer struck and killed him.
