07/03/11 53 W, 1 I - + 3 - 5 Pender Transport Service Sprinter

Seen in Rocky Point yesterday, a Freightliner Sprinter serving Pender Transport Service, which is a division of Pender EMS & Rescue. (Now there's your revenue stream! County-based convalescent service!) Are there many Sprinter ambulances serving around our state? How do folks like them?

If I recall correctly, MEDIC in Charlotte has a whole fleet of Sprinter ambulances for their convalescent service.

They seem to like them OK…...

WakeMed Mobile Critical Care Service BLS division just purchased Sprinter number 3. Crews love them and they get about 14-15 mpg. Better than the E-series.

Nash County uses Sprinters for ambulances. At, least I believe they are Sprinters…

The sprinters at Pender have been in service for a little over three years now. There are a total of four, two that see use every day and two the see use periodically. They each have somewhere in the neighborhood of 70-80k miles on them. We have had very little issues with them also. The big problem is a service center. When we do have a problem the closest repair center is Myrtle Beach. Overall they have been good trucks. Would love to see how a type III sprinter would do.
