11/16/06 26 W, 1 I - + 18 - 10 Chapel Hill's New Platform

From a reader, here's Chapel Hill's new platform from KME. Should be picked up next week.

Nice looking rig. What kind of staffing will Chapel Hill have on it?

You both have wrong colors!! I think that Chapel Hill has an academy going on right not to staff a new station, it’s possible this truck may go there, I’m not sure on that but it would make since.

It is a replacement for their current ladder truck.

Chapel Hill is in the process of hiring 12 as part of the SAFER grant.

Definitely the wrong color, not even NC State Red would do. Don’t think that I could ride a Blue firetruck No matter what department. Maybe solid Black with a 6 inch gold stripe!!

With that said… why doesn’t W-S have any Black/Gold trucks?! I guess that’s a positive note for their admin, they realize that a Black/Gold (Wake Forest colored) truck would be just plain fugly! :-)

This truck is replacing the current platform the are using, with it going to reserve status, the guys in the academy right now Im not sure where they are going. wether they are replacement people or new staff. The 12 with the safer grant are going to help add another guy to each crew. being that right now they only run 3 man crews.

We will be replacing the current ladder tower and using the SAFER people to boost all staffing to Five assigned, Four minimum with 8 assigned to Station 3 (Truck and Squad station with 5 on Truck and 3 on Squad)

For those interested, our hiring process is going on now with academy starting in Feburary. Great benefits and Beautiful Carolina Blue Trucks! (you guys are just jealous)
