06/29/12 40 W, 1 I - + 5 - 7 Chief 103

Speaking of former Six Forks Rescue Squad vehicles, here's a former Six Forks EMS vehicle. The Dodge Ram covered pick-up, photographed this evening in downtown Raleigh, now serves as Wake County EMS Chief 103's vehicle. Click to enlarge:

Mike, do you have a list of the admin numbers for EMS such as Chief 103, what thier rank/job title is? I’ve seen 100’s and 200’s on vehicles and I am curious.

Any clues as to the disposition of the other Ram? Two of the old Six Forks ambulances just sold off at State Surplus.

Here’s who’s who in Wake County EMS system numbering scheme:

CH-100 – Chief
CH-101 – Not used
CH-102 – Deputy Director/Professional Development
CH-103 – Technical Services
CH-104 – Logistics
CH-200 – Operations
CH-201 – Executive Officer
CH-202 – Special Events Chief (multiple users)
CH-301 – Training Supervisor
CH-302 – Training Supervisor
CH-400 – Apex EMS Chief
CH-500 – Cary EMS Chief
CH-600 – Eastern Wake EMS Chief
MD-1 – Director/Medical Director
MD-2 – Deputy Medical Director
MD-20 – Deputy Medical Director/Clinical Affairs

Oddly, there are no unit numbers for the official photographers. We’ll work on that one!

I thought I saw an EMS vehicle today marked DC 9, is this a new position in the system?
curious - 08/31/12 - 17:26

DC9 is the APP supervisor.

Q: What is District 9, that I have heard on some calls in Wake County?
A: That’s the Advanced Practice Paramedic supervisor. They work 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily, and their office is at the Crisis & Assessment Services (CAS) center on the WakeBrook campus on Sunnybrook Road. They don’t have a geographic district, and are currently not recommended for dispatch on any call types.

DC 9 was dispatched with us on a subject burned a couple of cycles ago. I asked what his position was and he told me APP supervisor.
