02/01/13 506 W - + 3 - 4 Wake County Fire Departments - Charting Data

For your Friday morning enjoyment, let's expand upon our recently compiled run numbers and chart more data about Wake County's fire departments. Add are stations, staffing, and special features and other things the departments do. It's a working list (and maybe rough in spots), so post or mail me corrections. Maybe we'll expand with other data points as available, as well. What's not charted? Aerial apparatus. First Responder or EMT levels. EMS providers (there are none, any more). EMS co-location. etc. Here's a map, showing these departments.

I have a question for Stony Hill: what is the purpose of a district chief when you only have one district? Aren’t district chiefs usually implemented when there are multiple districts? Or is this position just a day-time supervisor? Just curious, thanks!
PJ - 02/03/13 - 15:59

Cary FD also has a CERT Team associated with it, as well as an ATV through the USAR program.
CFD - 02/03/13 - 17:11

You will have to ask Stony Hill but i know the DC works Monday thur Friday during the day. When the other Chief are at there fill time jobs but you would have to ask Chief Rich.
NR - 02/03/13 - 22:12

Durham Hwy is staff with a full time Capt, Eng, and FF and at night and weekend Vol duty crew.
NR - 02/03/13 - 22:19

It looks like you’ve all got Stony Hill more accurately coordinated than I do! Here’s some clarification: We have a total of 10 FT employees. The District Chief works 8a-5p weekdays and is responsible for the leadership and delegated management of all paid staff (FT and PT). Also, the “District Chief” title is a “Wake County Compensation Guidelines” title; otherwise we would title it Battalion Chief. Station #2 has 3FT 24hr personnel (Eng, 2 FF’s) and a PT Capt. during the weekdays. Yes, we have a place for you! Come on up and join us as a volunteer!

Anyone have a breakdown of the county funded positions and who has what? For example; ABC F.D. has 3 fulltimers per day (9 total, working 24 hr shifts) at Station 1 and 2 fulltimers (8-5 during the week) at Station 2.
